For years, VMG members have learned from and used the principles behind 4DX to drive meaningful improvements within their veterinary practices. But as the program evolved, so did the need to better communicate its value.
Recognizing that the term “4DX” didn’t always immediately resonate with practice leaders, VMG has reimagined the program as the Productivity Leagues to more clearly reflect the measurable results members achieve.
Built on the same proven foundation, Productivity Leagues focus on helping veterinary teams improve efficiency, strengthen engagement, and create lasting operational change. From increasing appointment efficiency and forward-booking compliance to improving preventive care adherence, members have seen the impact of applying these principles in their practices. The new name also highlights the collaborative competition that motivates teams to stay engaged and work toward shared goals.
The following are 5 things to know about the Productivity Leagues.
No. 1: Productivity Leagues are built for action
Veterinary leaders have access to countless conferences, webinars, and educational resources, but translating those lessons into everyday practice can be challenging. The Productivity Leagues are designed to close that gap by helping teams apply what they learn in real time.
Rather than simply learning new concepts, participants implement them in real time, measure their progress, and receive ongoing accountability and coaching throughout the program. The leagues are intentionally designed around repetition and consistent application, helping teams build lasting habits and skills they can apply across multiple areas of their practice for years to come. As a result, participants are far more likely to sustain their progress and continue building on their successes long after the league concludes.
No. 2: The leagues create accountability that drives lasting change
One of the biggest lessons VMG learned from previous 4DX cohorts is that consistency is the key to success. The practices that achieved the strongest results were those that maintained regular accountability, celebrated progress, and empowered a team champion to lead the initiative.
The Productivity Leagues were designed with these principles in mind, providing teams with the structure, accountability, support, and motivation needed to stay engaged, maintain momentum, and achieve meaningful, measurable results throughout the program.
No. 3: The leagues address the challenges veterinary leaders face today
Many VMG members are looking for practical ways to improve operational efficiency, strengthen team accountability, and create greater consistency within their hospitals.
Through the Productivity Leagues, participants learn how to identify their most important goals, track meaningful performance metrics, and engage their teams in achieving measurable outcomes. The program provides strategies practices can implement immediately while building leadership skills that can be applied across multiple areas of the hospital.
No. 4: The program has expanded with more focused learning opportunities
Based on participant feedback and results, VMG has evolved the original Operational Efficiency content into more targeted leagues that address specific practice needs.
New and expanded offerings include:
- Forward Booking: Helps practices ensure every appointment consistently meets established standards of care and client service.
- Appointment Efficiency: Focuses on improving workflows and reducing appointment length while maintaining high-quality patient care and communication.
- Parasiticide Compliance: Helps practices improve preventive care compliance and patient outcomes.
By creating more specialized leagues, VMG aims to provide greater value and more relevant solutions for participating teams.
No. 5: Members experience a proven format with a new focus on measurable results
While the program has a new name, the successful structure remains familiar. Productivity Leagues begin with a full-day, in-person kickoff, followed by recurring coaching sessions over several weeks.
The format combines learning, implementation, measurement, and peer support to help teams create meaningful change. By focusing on measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency, and team engagement, Productivity Leagues give veterinary practices a framework to turn goals into results.
Don’t miss out
Outcomes vary depending on the league selected, but participants can expect measurable improvements in the area they choose to focus on.
For example:
- Practices participating in the Appointment Efficiency league often reduce appointment times (8.3 minutes saved per appointment) while improving workflow consistency.
- Those in the Forward Booking league increase the number of future appointments scheduled (from 17.7% to 56.1%) before clients leave the hospital.
- The Preventative Care and Annual Blood Work Compliance leagues help practices improve adherence to recommended care protocols (from 22.4% to 50.6%), resulting in better patient outcomes while strengthening overall practice performance.
Regardless of the league, VMG participants will gain a proven framework for setting goals, engaging their teams, measuring progress and sustaining meaningful improvements long after the program concludes.
