Wilvet Salem is seeking skilled Veterinary Technicians to work overnight and weekend shifts. Emergency, ICU and surgical anesthetic monitoring experience as well as an advanced skillset strongly preferred. Fast paced environment, technician driven treatment approach. Requirements

 

• Experience in caring for, handling and monitoring animals safely, effectively and humanely
• Ability to communicate in a professional, pleasant, respectful and courteous manner at all times
• Sense of humor and deep appreciation for animals and people

Primary Job Duties:
• Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures
• Perform venipuncture including placement of peripheral IV catheters
• Perform treatments, monitor progress and take responsibility for the care of hospitalized patients
• Triage and help stabilize critically ill patients
• Induce, intubate, and properly monitor patients under anesthesia
• Assist doctors with clinical, dental, and surgical procedures
• Take digital radiographs, perform in-house lab work, fill prescriptions

Skills Required:
• Confidently perform above job duties when working with dogs and cats
• Ability to work independently and efficiently within the guidelines of our treatment plans
• Demonstrate proficiency in math including the ability to calculate drug doses without assistance
• Proficient with computers and use of electronic medical records
• Ability to communicate and explain complicated medical concepts in a clear and professional manner to clients, co-workers and doctors
